Sunset Island Scenic Loop

A calm, picture-perfect waterfront stroll around Central Lake in The Villages’ Eastport area—best timed for golden hour and sunset from Sunset Island’s bridge-access park.

The Sunset Island Scenic Loop is a relaxed waterfront experience centered on Central Lake in The Villages (Eastport). The highlight is Sunset Island, a small island park reached by a pedestrian bridge—built for open-water views that shine at sunset.

While this spot isn’t marketed as a full-service marina destination, it’s an excellent “easy day” outing for boaters who enjoy scenic shoreline cruising, small-craft paddling, and a low-effort walk once you’re on land. Use the Central Lake Drive access area to park and then enjoy the lakefront setting, island overlook, and the surrounding multi-use trail.

About This Experience

Sunset Island Scenic Loop refers to the waterfront area around Central Lake in The Villages’ Eastport district, anchored by Sunset Island—a small island park accessed via a pedestrian bridge. It’s designed for scenic viewing rather than marina services, making it ideal for a slow-paced visit: stroll the shoreline, cross the bridge, and settle in for one of the area’s signature sunsets.

Boating relevance here is primarily about enjoying the Central Lake setting (and, where permitted, arriving by or bringing small craft like kayaks/SUPs). If you’re planning a boat day, treat this as a scenic shoreline destination and confirm current launch, docking, and access rules locally before you go.

Use the Nadine Trail area around Central Lake for a longer, flat, accessible walk with frequent water views. Great for leashed pets and unhurried sightseeing; plan to end near Sunset Island at golden hour.

Golden Hour Photo Circuit (Short Scenic Stops)

Do a short shoreline walk with multiple pause points: bridge approach, mid-bridge views, and the island’s open-water side. Ideal for catching changing light as the sun drops.
