Sunset cruises in Miami
Cruise Biscayne Bay at golden hour for Downtown skyline views, glittering waterfront lights, and a calm-on-the-bay ride. Most departures leave from Bayside Marketplace’s Miamarina in Downtown Miami.
Miami’s sunset cruises are a classic way to see the city from the water—when the heat drops, the bay turns glassy, and the skyline starts to glow. Routes typically stay on sheltered Biscayne Bay, making for smooth sightseeing and great photo angles as the lights come on across Downtown Miami and Miami Beach.
The main hub is Bayside Marketplace / Miamarina (near Pier 5). It’s an easy place to arrive by car or by boat, with a walkable waterfront packed with restaurants and bars—perfect for turning a cruise into an entire evening plan.
Most sunset itineraries overlap with Miami’s famous “Millionaire’s Row” corridor, passing areas like Star Island and the Venetian Islands, with frequent views toward the Port of Miami and Government Cut. Expect a relaxed, camera-friendly cruise with skyline panoramas in both directions.
About This Experience
Most sunset cruises in Miami depart from Bayside Marketplace’s waterfront at Miamarina (401 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132). From here, sightseeing boats head onto Biscayne Bay for wide views of Downtown Miami, the Miami Beach waterfront, and the mansion-lined islands that made the city famous. Because the route usually stays inside the bay (not out in open ocean), conditions are often calmer—though wind and passing boat wakes can still add some motion. Plan to arrive early for check-in and better seating, and bring a light layer for the breeze once you’re underway.

A skyline-forward cruise that also swings toward the Port of Miami area for harbor scenery and big-ship views, timed for dusk and the start of nightlife along the waterfront.

Planning tips (avoid the common mistakes)
Arrive 30–45 minutes early—check-in lines can form and some operators require exchanging vouchers for boarding passes.
Seating is often first-come/first-served; board early for top-deck rail spots and the best skyline angles.
Bring a light jacket or long-sleeve layer—wind on the bay can feel cooler than onshore.
If you plan to purchase alcohol onboard, carry a valid ID.
Expect some motion from wind and boat wakes; consider motion-sickness precautions if you’re sensitive.
Parking at Bayside is paid; allow extra time on weekends and event nights.
Best time to go
Aim for a departure that starts 30–60 minutes before sunset so you get both golden-hour color and the first wave of city lights. Many operators schedule departures around late afternoon/early evening (commonly near 5:00 PM depending on season).
