Hibiscus Island Perimeter Tour
Cruise a scenic loop around one of Biscayne Bay’s most exclusive man-made islands. Expect waterfront mansions, mega-yachts, and standout Downtown Miami/Brickell photo angles.
A Hibiscus Island Perimeter Tour is a relaxed, camera-friendly boat loop around Hibiscus Island—an exclusive residential island in Biscayne Bay between Miami and Miami Beach. The route is popular for “Millionaire’s Row”-style sightseeing, with calm-water cruising (weather dependent) and constant views of luxury homes and yachts.
Because a perimeter tour is a route (not a single dock), most boaters treat Hibiscus Island as the centerpiece of a wider bay loop. It pairs perfectly with nearby Palm Island, Star Island, and the Venetian Islands corridor—plus open-water vantage points for skyline shots of Downtown Miami and Brickell.
Plan for busy waterways, especially on weekends. Keep a respectful distance from private seawalls and docks, follow any posted speed/no-wake markers, and slow down for the best views and smoother photos.
About This Experience
Hibiscus Island is a small, man-made residential island in Biscayne Bay within the City of Miami Beach, created through dredging completed in 1922. Today, it’s known for high-value waterfront homes and is frequently featured on bay sightseeing routes.
A perimeter tour typically means a slow, continuous pass around the island’s shoreline at a safe, respectful distance—often combined with nearby Palm Island and Star Island, then finished with a skyline-facing leg toward Downtown Miami/Brickell. The experience is all about viewpoints: architecture, boats, and the changing angles of Miami’s skyline as you round the island.
Suggested Boat Routes
Quick Hibiscus Loop (Scenic Pass)
A simple perimeter cruise focused on mansion views and calm bay water. Best when you want a short outing or a sunset/photo session without extra stops.
Hibiscus + Palm Island + Star Island Sampler
Add nearby Palm Island and Star Island for a classic “luxury islands” loop. Expect more tour-boat traffic—slow down, hold your line, and enjoy the views.
Hibiscus + Venetian Causeway Skyline Loop
Run a wider loop along the Venetian Islands/Venetian Causeway corridor for scenic transit between Miami and Miami Beach, then angle for Downtown/Brickell skyline photos before returning.

On-the-Water Tips & Etiquette
Hibiscus Island is residential—do not tie up to private docks or seawalls unless you have explicit permission.
Watch for speed/no-wake markers and heavy cross-traffic from tour boats, yachts, jet skis, and paddlecraft—especially weekends and holidays.
Plan for wind chop: mornings are often smoother than afternoons (season and weather dependent).
For skyline photos, take a slow pass with clear sightlines toward Downtown Miami/Brickell when conditions allow.
Bring strong sun protection (polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, hat). Glare off Biscayne Bay is intense.
Carry plenty of water and keep phones/cameras in a dry bag. A VHF radio is recommended if you’re operating your own vessel in busy lanes.
Best Time to Go
For the calmest water and cleanest photos, aim for morning cruises when Biscayne Bay is often smoother. Golden hour (late afternoon) can be stunning for skyline shots, but expect more chop and heavier traffic in peak periods. Weekdays typically feel less congested than weekends and holidays.
