Full moon boat cruise Miami
Catch sunset, then cruise into moonrise on Biscayne Bay for shimmering skyline views, calmer evening water, and a true Miami night-on-the-bay feel.
A full moon boat cruise in Miami is an evening guided cruise timed to pair golden-hour sunset with moonrise over Biscayne Bay. Many trips run on a large, stable tour catamaran, making it an easy, comfortable way to get out on the water without planning your own route.
What makes Biscayne Bay special at full moon is the contrast: downtown/Brickell lights reflecting on the water, with dark silhouettes of mangroves and shallow seagrass flats nearby. Routes vary by operator and conditions, but cruises often pass Key Biscayne landmarks and aim for wide-open viewing angles as the moon climbs.
For boaters and visitors arriving by water, the most consistent public departure point tied to “sunset & full moon” programming is Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne—an ideal starting point for a relaxed night cruise with quick access to protected bay waters.
About This Experience
Full moon cruises on Biscayne Bay are typically guided evening trips scheduled around sunset and moonrise. Depending on weather, wind, and no-wake zones, your captain may cruise past Key Biscayne and Virginia Key, angle toward Stiltsville, and/or position the boat for expansive views toward the Brickell/Downtown skyline. Expect breezier conditions on open water than on land, low-light scenery, and an overall slower, sightseeing pace. Wildlife sightings (like wading birds or manatees) are possible but never guaranteed.
Common cruise routes from Crandon Park Marina
Sunset-to-Moonrise Bay Loop
Depart near sunset, cruise along Key Biscayne/Virginia Key edges, then slow down for moonrise viewing over open bay water before returning to the marina.
Stiltsville + Moonrise Viewing
Head toward the iconic Stiltsville area for a classic Biscayne Bay photo stop, then reposition for moonrise and night reflections across the bay.
Skyline Glow Run (Brickell/Downtown Views)
Cruise north for wider skyline angles and night lights on the water, then return through calmer bay sections depending on wind and traffic.

Planning tips for a smooth full-moon cruise
Confirm the exact meeting point—some listings specify the Crandon Park Marina Fishing Boat Pier for check-in.
Arrive early for parking, walking to the pier, and check-in; some trips ask guests to meet ~30 minutes before departure/sunset.
Bring a light wind layer—Biscayne Bay can feel cool at night even when daytime temps are warm.
Wear grippy sandals or closed-toe shoes for wet docks and boarding.
Use a small dry bag for phone/keys; salt spray and dock splashes happen.
If you’re prone to seasickness, take prevention before boarding (not after you feel it).
Expect weather changes—summer storms and winter fronts can cause choppy water or reschedules.
Best time to go
Plan for the night of the full moon (or the closest scheduled cruise date) and aim for a departure that overlaps sunset and moonrise. Conditions are often calmer after peak afternoon winds, but forecasts matter—winds and storms can shift routes or lead to cancellations.
