Deep sea fishing in Miami
Launch from Haulover Park Marina for one of Miami’s fastest runs to the Atlantic. Spend less time cruising canals and more time on the bite with nearby charter options.
Deep sea fishing in Miami is all about quick access to offshore water, experienced crews, and the chance to hook everything from bottom fish to pelagics depending on season and conditions. One of the most convenient departure points is Bill Bird Marina at Haulover Park (Haulover Park Marina), a well-known hub for Miami’s charter and drift fleet.
Because the marina sits next to Haulover Inlet, you can be in open Atlantic water fast—especially valuable for half-day trips where every minute counts. If you’re arriving by boat, the marina’s slips and amenities make it an easy meet-up point before running the inlet.
This page covers where to launch, what to expect offshore, practical boating tips, and a few easy route ideas for planning your day on the water.
About This Experience
Bill Bird Marina at Haulover Park (10800 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33154) is a reliable launch point for deep sea fishing in Miami thanks to its immediate access to Haulover Inlet and a strong charter presence. Expect options that range from shared trips to private charters depending on the operator and season.
On the water, conditions can change quickly—offshore may be choppy even when Biscayne Bay is calm. Plan for sun exposure, bring motion-sickness prevention if you’re sensitive, and confirm ahead of time what your captain provides (rods, bait, tackle, license coverage, and whether fish cleaning is available).
For boaters, the marina commonly offers practical services like fuel, pumpout, restrooms/showers, ice, and limited transient dockage—helpful if you’re staging early or meeting a group before departure. VHF is monitored on 16 with working channel 68.
Suggested boat routes (launching from Haulover Park Marina)
Quick Inlet Run + Offshore Setup
Depart Bill Bird Marina, idle out to Haulover Inlet, then run offshore to set up based on conditions and your target species. This is the classic “maximize fishing time” plan with minimal intracoastal transit.
Morning Drift/Bottom Fishing Plan
Ideal for newer anglers: leave early when seas are often calmer, fish structured bottom/drift areas offshore, then return through Haulover Inlet with time to dock and handle your catch.
Full-Day Offshore Hunt
A longer run offshore for anglers who want more time to search conditions, change tactics, and stay flexible. Best when you want to fish multiple zones or wait out a slow morning bite.

Local tips for deep sea fishing out of Haulover
Arrive early on weekends—Haulover parking/entrance may reach capacity and close later in the morning.
Take seasickness medication before departure (follow label directions). Offshore can be rough even when the bay feels flat.
Bring polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat—glare offshore is intense.
Use non-marking, closed-toe shoes with good grip for wet decks.
Confirm with your captain what’s provided (rods, bait, tackle, license coverage) and whether fish cleaning is offered.
If you’re boating in to meet a charter, call ahead to confirm transient slip availability and the exact dock/meeting location.
Best time to go
Morning departures are often the most comfortable and efficient—lighter winds and calmer seas are common earlier in the day, and you’ll maximize fishing time. For planning at the marina: office hours are typically 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. daily, park/marina hours are sunrise–sunset, and boat ramps generally operate 6:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. (verify day-of with your operator).
